Guess what day it is?!

Pin It I'm starting something new! Each Thursday I'm going to pass along a tip to help you live a thriftier life... so here's my first tip:

Have a meatless meal once a week. I find my husband is more leery of this idea than I am, but I’ve instigated it anyways and so far so good! It’s good for you and takes the most expensive part of the meal out- the meat! Some ideas: pasta w/ marinara sauce, chef salad w/eggs & lots of veggies, vegetable soup, or a spinach & pepper quiche. Go here to find some yummy vegetarian recipes from allrecipes.com. Be creative and save!

There are a ton of recipes that you can make meatless. I do a version of my lasagna- and just leave the meat out. I put more veggies in it.

Meatless enchiladas or tacos- just use beans instead.

Stir fry on rice.

Breakfast burritos- pretty much any breakfast food (we love breakfast for dinner). I found a good whole wheat pancake recipe in either my joy of cooking or better homes and garden cookbook- I can't remember which one.

Another thing that would be good is pasta and alfredo sauce. You could saute some mushrooms to top it with instead of chicken like we usually do.
