Free Summer Lunches for Kids

Pin It Let's face it, we're all trying to save money right now. With kids being out of school, providing lunch each day may cause your food budget to stretch in ways you aren't able to. The solution? Check out the Summer Meals for Kids program. This is a federally funded program administered by the state designed to provide nutritious meals for children during the summer months. Read more about it here.

This is not a program only for low-income or needy families. State officials say anyone is welcome to bring their children to any of the statewide locations. In fact, they are actively promoting the program to the entire community!

Many sites, which serve breakfast or lunch, or both, also are located near playgrounds, recreation centers, pools or in parks. Adult meals are available at some sites, and although prices vary, most sites charge only about $3 per adult meal. Several healthy food options are available and many locations have a salad bar.

Go here to view a list of sites. Any location designated as an "open" site is open to the public. Those designated as "enrolled" or as a "camp" require pre-registration and aren't open to the general public. Most of the sites are open to the public and state officials are encouraging Utah parents to bring their kids on by this summer for a free meal.

Thanks Lesley for this great offer.
