Farewell Albertson's...

Pin It According to the Press Release this morning, most Albertson's stores in the state of Utah will soon be Associated Foods Stores. You can read more about it here. They haven't released much more information, other than it will happen this Fall.

I'm guessing this means we'll have to say goodbye to our beloved double coupons. Sad.

Right along with that is the announcement that as of August 1st, all Associated foods stores will now accept Internet printable coupons! I'm in the process of obtaining the brand new coupon policy, so stay tuned on that.

We will be seeing several changes over the course of the next few months. Stores will get a variety of improvements done. Prices will drop on certain items and we'll begin seeing the popular Western Family brand of products.

We're going to have to see how this all pans out. I've shopped at several Associated foods stores and I do like them. Their prices are low and I like that they sell a lot of Utah-made products.

I'll update you all with information as I hear it!

This is sad! I have that shock feeling, like someone just died. Dramatic, I know, but really!

I am so bummed. First the redplum goes to the mail and now albertsons doublers are on their way out. I guess the recession is hitting the coupons just when so many more people are getting involved. at least Winco is coming in the fall too.

This is sad news. If I wanted to shop at and AFS store I would go to Macey's or any of the other stores they own. But I don't, I love my Albies! AFS stores all usually run the same sales so we will be seeing the same exact sales at a lot of different stores. Boring! This makes me want to take advantage of every great Albertson's deal while they still last!

Thanks for the info - I hadn't heard about this yet. It's good to know, even if it did make me a little sad.

This stinks. I hadn't heard this. May be Smith's will now come out on top.

I wonder how this will change my cereal & oatmeal stock up methods this fall. I used Red Plum inserts with the Quaker coupons and Albies for YEARS!!! AHHHHH.

I'm a big Smith's fan myself, so I'm not too bummed out. I will miss the double coupons though; those really helped out a lot.

WINCO?? I didn't heard they are coming to Utah. Were? That's exciting. I go everytime im in Idaho visiting family. They have an wonderful bulk section. And I save a lot with coupons. The bumble bee tuna was 94 cents a package. I used the $1.00 off coupon. :)

Maybe several of the stores will be Dan's Markets... I've heard they double coupons everyday. We can hope... right? Maybe they'll start doulbing coupons to fight for a bigger share of the coupon market. I know that since I started couponing I've shopped Maceys (my previous favorite grocery store) a whole lot less.
