The Great Pumpkin Festival: Fall Families can check out the pumpkin patch, go on hay rides, watch an outdoor screening of It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, peruse vendor booths, get their faces painted, and bounce around in a bounce house at Farnsworth Farms' annual Great Pumpkin Festival. Freshly-pressed hot cider, caramel apples, popcorn, hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, and hot chocolate are available for purchase. Dress for the weather and bring a warm blanket or chairs for the movie. Minimal fee for some of the activities. This event is ongoing each Fri & Sat 10/16/09 - 10/24/09. More info here.
Pumpkin Walk: Join us down by the "Old Mill Scream" at Benson Grist Mill’s 13th Annual Pumpkin Walk! Take a walk around the Mill and see all the pumpkin scenes created by local businesses, families, and community groups. Prizes will be given. Event is free. Fri & Sat, 10/16-10/17, 10am-9pm. Broomhilda Returns: Broomhilda the Witch is at the library to scare up some fun while telling Halloween stories. She'll be visiting the Day-Riverside Branch at 2pm on the 16th, go here to see the other Library branches she'll be visiting until 10/31. Rec Center and Library Demolition Party: Here's an interesting activity, the Millcreek Recreation Center, Library, and Fire Station are being demolished to make way for improved facilities. Millcreek Township is throwing a party to commemorate and remember these outstanding public facilities on Saturday, 10/17 from 2pm- 7pm. Families can celebrate during a day of pickup basketball games, children's activities from (puppet shows, hula hoop contests, inflatables, etc.), fire station tours, and more. Go here for more info.
Fall Fun Day at Lakeshore Learning: Lakeshore celebrates fall by offering a fun craft each Saturday from 11am- 3pm. This Saturday kids can make a "Silly Scarecrow." Go here for more info.UMFA Family Workshop: Once again the Utah Museum of Fine Arts offers families a free Saturday craft. Families can explore the museum's African, Oceanic, and Native American galleries for inspiration, and then create masks to take home. This activity is available on a first come, first served basis. 2pm-4pm, Saturday. Go here for more info.
