Giveaway: Emergency Essentials Breakfast Combo Food Storage Item, worth $101.50!

As I mentioned before, I have a goal this year of increasing my long-term food storage. I've allotted $30 each month for this purpose and plan on sharing my progress throughout the year. Two questions I have been asking myself this past week are:
How much of each item do I need for my family?
How much do I already have?
I've found two very handy online tools that helped me get my answers.

The first is a calculator that assess how much of each food item your food storage should contain. Go here to check it out! Remember too that these recommendations are not set in stone. If no one in your family eats lima beans, please don't purchase 13 lbs of them! Your family's personal preferences do matter and should be taken into consideration when planning for food storage.

The second is a helpful tool created by Emergency Essentials that helps you assess how long the food storage you have currently will last you.  The Food Storage analyzer can be found here. Take 5-10 minutes to input a few pieces of information and you'll be well on your way to figuring how how far your current food storage can stretch!

The Food Storage Analyzer not only calculates your large cans and buckets of food items, but also allows you to input items you've gotten from the grocery store! I also appreciated the nutritional information it supplied. If you're interested in trying this free analyzer out, remember that you can still get a free $10 Emergency Essentials gift card for providing a review! Go here for more information on that offer.

In an effort to inspire you all to begin accumulating food storage, Emergency Essentials would like to sponsor a Giveaway here on Utah Deal Diva each month!

This month the featured item is a 6-piece Breakfast Variety Combo! With a value of $101.50, the Breakfast Combo comes with  several valuable items to add to your food storage, including:
  • Freeze-Dried Scrambled Eggs
  • Hash Browns Potatoes
  • Granola
  • Milk
  • Quick Oats
  • Freeze-Dried Peach Dices
The Breakfast Variety Combo is on sale right now for only $74.99, go here to check it out!

If you'd like to win this 6-piece Breakfast Variety combo for your food storage, simply leave a comment on this post, letting me know the main struggle you're facing in accumulating a food storage.

Ways to get additional entries:
  1. Become a follower! Current followers, just tell me you follow and that will be fine too!
  2. Email at least 5 people who live in Utah, telling them about my site! Let them know about the Giveaway so they can enter too! Copy me on the email: utahdealdiva at gmail dot com.

I love your site. So thanks for letting me know all the deals. Now for your question. The hardest food storage problem I have is where to put it. We do not have a very large house, and there just isn't anyplace to put everything. So I am not able to get as much food storage as I feel like we should because of the lack of space.

The struggle our family has faced in accumulating food storage is not being able to afford food storage items on top of groceries each month. On one income it's hard to afford both.

I wonder if the greatest challenge many of us face in building a solid supply, is having the courage to do without some of the luxury items we spend money on every month (carwash, movies, eating out, salons, etc. whatever your money pits are)in order to invest in the future as we have been asked to do! It takes planning, faith, and courage! manyburkmans@

The biggest problem I have is just being OVERWHELMED! I don't know if I should get started on just the basics, or keep building up my storage from good deals at the grocery store. I don't have the money in our budget to just go and buy huge containers of beans, grains, oils, etc. And water is a whole other issue. Oops, that's more than one problem!

Wow! What a generous company to do so many amazing giveaways! I have been to their store and I love it! They have tons of amazing products and their prices seem very reasonable!

My two biggest problems for food storage are: 1) lack of finances - since my husband is a full time medical student and I stay home with our 3 children we have no income which makes buying even the smallest bit of food storage very difficult. The good news is that he graduates in a few months and will start working! :) 2)lack of space...just like everyone else! Family of 5 in 600 sq ft = VERY difficult! :)

My main struggle in accumulating food storage? Usually it's space, but now that I'm in a house, I have two different issues.

1 - Rotating it with my pantry. My pantry is nice sized considering I was in an apartment without one for years. But now, it's too small for food storage to be in there too. Sometimes I forget to go to the basement and check out what I've got before shopping. And even then, I need more ways to store it... more shelving and such.

2 - The other problem is that I seemed to have stocked up on big sale items, like granola bars, cereal, cake mixes, and pasta. But we eat more than just that. I need more cans, more items that we eat on a regular basis. But those items aren't always on sale for super cheap, so they get forgotten.
