My Smith's Trip: 57% Savings

I finally went to Smith's this evening. No, I didn't waste any time getting to the store after my January Eat from the Pantry Challenge ended! We were out of so many items, my grocery list was a lot longer than it's been in a while! Needless to say, I had to purchase many items I didn't have any coupons for, like bread, eggs, produce, etc. That being said, I felt like I did pretty well.

Before sales and coupons, my total came to $162.34.

After scanning my Smith's card it dropped to $102.55.

Then I handed over a nice stack of coupons and my final total was $68.93.

So I saved 57%!

A few highlights of my trip:

Pillsbury Pie Crusts, marked down to .25 each!

• Used .50/2 coupon from 11/15 or 11/22 SS
• Final price: Two for FREE! 

Dreyers ice cream, after Mega Savings promo, $2.49

• Use $1/1 from 1/31 SS
• Final price: $1.49

Pillsbury Toaster Strudel, $1.49 after MS promo

• Use $1/1 coupon here
• Load this .55/2 Cellfire e-coupon, or this .55/2 Shortcuts e-coupon onto your Smith's card
• Final price: Two for .43 total!
• {Yes, Smith's corporate says it's OK to stack e-coupons with paper coupons.}

This one was my favorite. Fiber One bars were $1.99 after MS promo- not that great of price. However, we really like these, and the .40/1 coupon I had with me made it somewhat of a better deal. There were only a few boxes left, and the one in the way back was seriously munched. After inspecting the box, I realized it had a BOGO Fiber One yogurt coupon on the back- which suddenly made it very appealing! I asked a Smith's associate if he'd be willing to discount the box for it being squashed and he gladly marked it down to $1.06!

I already had a FREE product coupon for Fiber One yogurt I got during a promo last year. So I was able to get the box of granola bars for .17, plus two packs of Fiber One yogurt for FREE! This is a good example of why I never rush to use a free product coupon! You can read more about my strategy on using free product coupons here.

Since my post- Smith's card total was over $100, the checker let me use the FREE gallon of milk coupon! I also used the FREE chocolate mik coupon. {Both are no longer available.} Overall, I feel like I had a pretty good trip!
